Very vulgar, perverse, and grotesque. The protagonist is aware of his issues, but can't be bothered to do anything about them.
Overall, I am reminded of Stoner. Factotum would be the anti-Stoner. It's like seeing the world through the eyes of someone else with all the ups and down that entails.
Like Stoner, Factotum is entrancing and intriguing without really knowing why, especially given the nature of the book. Unlike Stoner, however, I can't really say that I got much out of the experience — although I'm sure some people will find the book comedic or relatable (unfortunately).
