In the modern world, I think people simply read modern books. I can't understand all the hype and appeal to the popular books such as this and Never Let Me Go. Some are good. Most are nothing special. Piranesi is nothing special.
The thoughts and dialogue are sometimes exorbitantly scientific. The writing itself is also very plain and simple — the prose are lacking, and the language has juvenile moments. Overall, everything was rather simple. The story was interesting, but that was all. Interesting. Nothing more. In fact, nothing really happens. Unlike classical books where, at the very least, thoughts and emotions stand out. In this book, as told through journal entries, only facts are stated. There isn't much else to say.
