To Stand
Trees do rest against the shore
Never do they want for more
Gentle lapping of the sea
Offers all that needs to be
Clouds are rolling ever high
Always tolling sun so nigh
Whose burning flames would cast us shadow
Whose dimming lights would make us wallow
Stars do glimmer in the night
Wants of wishes bring us fright
Sparkling ever on the shore
Lapping waves become a roar
Sunlight whispers from the moon:
The days that come should come too soon
Ever do our shadows fall
In mockery, our wishes call
Blowing wind brings with it dawn,
Echoing voices of days now gone
The rustle of leaves join in symphony
Whose wisdom begs us kneel in mercy
So stand the trees against the shore
So shall they stand forever more
