This book is like a beginner's guide to spirituality, and felt almost like it was written for Christians. Every time Watts came close to a topic I was fascinated by, he would quickly reiterate the same points which usually revolved around being present, suffering, and God.

There's nothing wrong with this, and his points are mostly quite clear and well-made. However, he never goes as far as to pose any solutions to the more grand problems at hand.

My feelings are certainly due to such topics being an interest of mine, and thus, having done plenty of prior research, I did not really gain anything from this book.

The exceptions were chapters 7 and 8. These had good and interesting perspectives/ideas.

Overall, I liked what he had to say. It just wasn't very applicable or inspiring to me personally. Only two chapters were exceptions which was not enough to redeem the book.
